Elm wood is a dense, durable hardwood admired for its interlocking grain pattern, fine smooth texture, and ability to age gracefully. Its warm, natural tones — ranging from golden honey to silvery weathered grey — create a rich visual tapestry that brings depth, soul, and authenticity to any space.
Often reclaimed from historic buildings or old farmhouses, elm wood carries the marks of time: tool impressions, old nail holes, weather checks, and subtle imperfections that speak to its past life. Each piece is unique — no two are ever the same — giving your furniture a story to tell and a lived-in charm that can’t be replicated with new wood.
As it ages, elm wood continues to evolve. Its tone deepens, the grain becomes more pronounced, and hairline cracks or small shifts may develop, particularly in dry environments. These changes are not flaws, but a reflection of its natural movement and organic character — signs of a material that’s truly alive.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS
- Dust regularly with a dry or slightly damp, soft cloth.
- Avoid placing hot items, liquids, or wet objects directly on the surface.
- Protect from direct heat and sunlight to prevent warping, discoloration, or drying out.
- Maintain the wood’s beauty by applying a natural wax, oil, or wood conditioner every few months — especially in drier seasons — to nourish the surface and help prevent cracking.
Note: Because of its reclaimed nature, minor imperfections are expected and celebrated. These are part of the charm and not considered defects.
