Casa Gina: Preserving memories, embracing modernity

Renovating a Family’s Home in Marbella's Old Town. Nestled within the charming streets of Marbella's historic old town lies a gem of Andalusian architecture, Casa Gina, a family home brimming with memories and Zoco Home’s latest Interior Design and Renovation Project.

Our client owns, not just a house, but a legacy from her mother Gina, who purchased the property 25 years ago. With a vision to preserve its essence while infusing contemporary comfort, Zoco Home Interior Design Studio embarks on a journey to transform this traditional Andalusian house into a haven for the family and their future guests.

The concept behind the project is to honour the architectural heritage of the house while incorporating Zoco Home’s Ethnic-Scandinavian design principles to meet the evolving needs of modern living. It's a delicate dance between the classic and the contemporary, where warm, inviting materials are set side by side sleek, minimalist finishes.

A pivotal element of the renovation involves our client incorporating our design alongside some vintage pieces, notably Gina's antique furniture. We've carefully accounted for this integration to ensure her furniture seamlessly complements the new pieces. Not only will this impart a personal flair to the space, but it will also honour the family's cherished memories within the home, conveyed through the stories their furniture shares with guests.

But this renovation isn't just about Zoco Home creating a sanctuary for our client and her family; it's also about embracing the potential of the location. Situated amidst the bustling streets of Marbella's old town, the house holds promise as a vacation rental, catering to travellers seeking a blend of history and modern luxury. Boutique hotels in the vicinity hint at the lucrative market for such accommodations, offering an opportunity to share the family's heritage with visitors from around the world.

The renovation journey is not without its challenges, with meticulous attention to detail required, especially in areas like the bathrooms where microcement work adds a touch of rustic but sophisticated flair. Zoco Home team’s dedication to preserving the soul of the house shines through in every decision, ensuring that its rich history remains intact even as it evolves to meet the demands of the present.

Zoco Home invites you to take a look at the photo gallery as it opens doors to this newly renovated space, one that invites others to experience the magic of Marbella's old town. With each guest welcomed into this home, the legacy of Gina's vision lives on, a testament to the enduring spirit of family and heritage.
