Materials & Care
At Zoco Home, we work with high-quality, carefully selected materials; each chosen for its character, durability, and timeless appeal. Our collections celebrate craftsmanship and the beauty of natural textures, blending effortlessly into modern, Mediterranean-inspired spaces.
To help you care for your furniture and preserve its beauty over time, we’ve created this guide with key information and maintenance tips for each of our main materials.
Explore how each material ages, how to maintain it, and how to make it last for generations.

TEAK WOOD
Beauty that evolves, strength that lasts.
Teak is a timeless wood, prized for crafting high-quality furniture thanks to its natural beauty, strength, and resilience. Its unique composition —rich in natural oils and mineral deposits such as silica and calcium— makes it highly resistant to moisture, saltwater, and other external elements. This makes teak especially well-suited for both indoor and outdoor use, as it withstands humidity and temperature fluctuations with ease.
Over time, untreated teak will naturally develop a soft silver-grey patina, a transformation many appreciate for its weathered and authentic character. Its grain is typically straight, though occasional waves may appear, with a distinctive texture and a soft, natural sheen.
At Zoco Home, we work exclusively with sustainably sourced, premium teak, carefully selected for its tone, quality, and character. Each piece features unique grain patterns, knots, and colour variations that reflect the wood’s organic origins, making every item truly one of a kind.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Naturally durable and low-maintenance, teak can retain its beauty for years (even outdoors) with just a few simple care steps.
To enhance and preserve its golden tone, we recommend applying a water-based protector such as Lasur and/or a specific teak oil once or twice a year. Click here to purchase our Teak Care Kit. This helps nourish the wood and prevent it from drying out, cracking, or fading.
Clean regularly with a damp cloth and avoid using harsh chemical products. Avoid placing wet or hot objects directly on the surface for extended periods. For optimal preservation, protect teak furniture from constant, direct exposure to intense sunlight or heavy rain.
If left untreated, teak will age gracefully, slightly expanding and developing its signature grey patina, highlighting the character of the wood.
At Zoco Home, we use premium teak, known for its natural tones and enduring craftsmanship. Our teak furniture is designed to last for generations.

RECYCLED TEAK WOOD
Aged to perfection, crafted to last.
At Zoco Home, we use recycled teak wood that has already undergone natural transformations, offering enhanced stability and long-lasting durability. This makes it especially well-suited for outdoor environments.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Treat recycled teak as you would natural teak. To preserve its tone, we recommend applying a water-based protector such as Lasur or a specific teak oil once or twice a year. [Click here to purchase our Teak Care Kit.]
For outdoor use, we highly recommend protecting your furniture from direct sunlight, rain, or snow with a cover when not in use. If you'd like to purchase a custom-made cover for your Zoco Home piece, please contact us at info@zocohome.com.

ELM WOOD
Vintage classic. Timeworn character.
Elm wood is a hardwood valued for its interlocking grain, smooth texture, and timeless charm. Its natural tones —ranging from honey to weathered grey—bring depth and authenticity to any space. Often reclaimed from old buildings, it bears tool marks, nail holes, and other imperfections that add a unique, vintage touch.
Tone and texture may deepen over time, revealing more character. Hairline cracks or slight movements may appear (specially in dry environments), reflecting the wood’s natural aging process.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Dust with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid hot or wet objects and keep away from direct heat or sunlight to prevent cracking or fading. Nourish the surface occasionally with natural wax or wood conditioner.

SUAR WOOD
Bold grain. Dense presence.
Suar wood, also known as albizia saman, is a tropical hardwood admired for its striking grain and the natural contrast between heartwood and sapwood. Its bold lines and rich tones bring warmth and visual impact to any space.
Naturally dense, heavy and durable, suar wood is ideal for solid, long-lasting designs. Each slab is unique, often featuring irregular edges, tonal variations, and natural cracks that enhance its raw beauty. Suar wood may deepen slightly in tone over time. Hairline cracks and surface movement are normal and reflect the wood’s natural aging process.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid harsh cleaners and excess moisture. Do not place hot or wet items directly on the surface. To maintain its natural finish, apply a neutral wood oil or wax as needed.

MICROCEMENT
Seamless surfaces. Organic elegance.
Microcement is a refined, mineral-based finish that blends industrial character with natural warmth. Applied by hand in layered coats, it creates a smooth, continuous surface with subtle texture and earthy tones. At Zoco Home, we use premium microcement sealed with a protective varnish for added durability and stain resistance, making our pieces suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. As a living material, microcement evolves over time with exposure.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Clean with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid acidic substances, abrasive cleaners, or sharp objects. Use coasters and placemats to prevent stains or scratches. Reapply a protective sealer every 6 months if needed. Protect outdoor pieces with a cover. If you'd like to purchase a custom-made cover for your Zoco Home piece, please contact us at info@zocohome.com.

LINEN FABRIC
Naturally breathable. Beautifully textured.
Linen is a high-quality, premium natural fabric that brings lightness, texture, and an organic feel to any space. We carefully select our linen fabrics for their artisanal texture and breathable quality, making them perfect for calm, warm, Mediterranean-inspired living.
Woven from flax fibres, linen is soft, durable, and naturally insulating. Its earthy tones, subtle irregularities, and relaxed drape give it a timeless charm that only improves with time and use.
