Located in the heart of Marbella Golden Mile, this Ibiza inspired townhouse is a perfect example of how thoughtful design can completely transform the experience of a home without requiring major structural changes. Designed and executed by Zoco Home Interior Design Studio, the project focused on bringing warmth, functionality, and character to a property that previously felt cold, overly modern, and disconnected from the Mediterranean lifestyle.

A Mediterranean style townhouse designed for modern living
While the existing property already had a functional layout, it lacked the warmth and identity the owners were looking for. The vision at Casa Felicia was clear from the beginning: to create a home inspired by Mediterranean living, drawing subtle influences from Ibiza's relaxed architecture, natural materials, and effortless connection between indoor and outdoor spaces.
Rather than redesigning the house entirely, Zoco Home Interior Design Studio focused on refining and elevating what was already there. Soft architectural curves, textured finishes, natural materials, and a lighter palette helped transform the atmosphere throughout the home, replacing the previous cold and contemporary feel with something far more timeless and inviting.
Keeping what worked, improving what didn't
One of the most interesting aspects of this project was the decision to preserve many of the home's existing spaces while making targeted interventions that would significantly improve how they felt and functioned.
The kitchen remained in its original location, as did the living and dining areas. However, by removing part of a wall, the kitchen immediately gained a greater sense of openness and connection. Small architectural details, such as the addition of a soft curved feature near the dining area, introduced a more organic language throughout the home, reinforcing the Mediterranean character of the design.
These changes may seem subtle, but together they completely altered the feeling of the property. It is a perfect example of how thoughtful project management and design expertise can maximise the potential of an existing home without unnecessary interventions.
A master suite transformed through layout
One of the most significant changes took place within the master suite.
Originally, the bathroom was accessed directly from the bedroom, creating a layout that felt less intuitive and limited the potential of the space. The design team at Zoco Home Interior Design Studio completely reworked the configuration, relocating the entrance through the dressing area and reorganising the bathroom layout to make it feel larger, brighter, and more spacious.
This new arrangement not only improved functionality but also created a more comfortable and intimate bedroom environment, allowing space for additional features while enhancing the overall flow of the suite.
The result is a master bedroom that feels calm, balanced, and perfectly aligned with the principles of Mediterranean living.
Creating a new en-suite bedroom
Upstairs, another important transformation took place.
What was once a large room with a small bar area was reimagined as a fully functional en-suite bedroom. The existing bar was removed, making way for a private bathroom that significantly improved the usability and value of the property.
While the intervention itself was relatively simple, its impact was considerable. Creating an additional en-suite bedroom enhanced both the day-to-day experience of the home and its long-term market appeal.
This is where strong project management becomes essential: identifying opportunities that improve not only aesthetics but also functionality and investment value.
Outdoor spaces designed around Mediterranean living
The exterior areas were also carefully reconsidered to better support outdoor living.
Existing metal stairs leading to the rooftop terrace were replaced with built-in masonry steps that feel far more integrated into the architecture of the home. Beneath them, a new seating nook was created, transforming what had previously been an underutilised outdoor shower area into a functional and inviting corner.
Additional improvements focused on freeing up the rooftop terrace. Technical air-conditioning units were relocated to a dedicated service area behind the kitchen, allowing the rooftop to become a true chill-out space rather than a storage area for equipment.
The pool area also underwent thoughtful modifications. New technical requirements for the heated pool created an opportunity to redesign the surrounding levels, resulting in a generous platform that now functions as a sunbathing area while maintaining a clean and cohesive aesthetic.
These carefully considered interventions strengthen the home's connection to Mediterranean living, where outdoor spaces become a natural extension of the interior.
Small changes, remarkable results
Casa Felicia demonstrates that successful renovations are not always defined by dramatic transformations. Often, it is the smaller decisions that have the greatest impact.
Through a combination of strategic design interventions, material upgrades, and meticulous project management, Zoco Home was able to transform a cold contemporary townhouse into a warm and welcoming home inspired by Mediterranean life.
Today, Casa Felicia feels brighter, more functional, and more connected to its surroundings. It is a home designed not only to look beautiful, but to be enjoyed every day.
